The Duet digital wireless monitor system consists of the M2T dual-stereo half-rack transmitter and M2Ra diversity belt pack receiver. The Duet covers the UHF frequencies of 470-614 or 537-691 MHz in a single range, uses digital modulation for transmission, and can accept analog or Dante digital inputs. The Duet system can be considered a "wireless IEM" or a deluxe IFB product, designed and developed with professional touring, installation, theater, filmmaking and broadcast customers in mind that require high definition audio in their ears. With 24 bit digital audio, low latency, Dante inputs and a compact, lightweight, diversity bodypack unit, the Duet system should please even the most demanding users, both on and behind the stage.

The M2Ra digital IEM receiver is a compact, rugged body-worn unit providing studio-grade sound quality for performers or any professionals needing to monitor detailed audio wirelessly. The M2Ra employs advanced antenna diversity switching during digital packet headers for seamless audio. The 24-bit digital audio stream guarantees high resolution sound quality with wide dynamic range, low noise floor, and solid stereo image. The headphone jack is fed from a high-quality stereo amplifier with 250 mW available to drive even inefficient headphones or earphones to sufficient levels for stage performance or other noisy environments. The receiver can select from stereo, mono from left or right channels only, or mono from both channels, giving the unit flexibility in terms of application as an IEM or IFB receiver. The M2Ra features a user-friendly interface with a high-resolution, backlit, color LCD and membrane switches. Housings and panels are machined aluminum with Eboni finishes with laser etched marking for durability, yet they are lightweight and sleek in order to be comfortable on the artist's body. The M2Ra runs on two AA batteries.

Both the M2Ra beltpack receiver and the M2T half-rack transmitter units have 2-way IR sync, so scan data from the receiver can be sent to the transmitter and thus onto the Ethernet network for use by Lectrosonics' Wireless Designer software for frequency planning and coordination purposes. Additionally, the system includes a Flex List mode, where a number of names and frequencies can be stored in the receiver. This way, a monitor engineer or production manager can quickly find and listen to any of the talents' mixes on the stage or in the studio.

Improvements over the original M2R include:

  • phantom power protection on the headphone jack (good for using this model as a camera hop receiver)
  • improved IFB analog compatibility mode (sounds better than the older version)
  • beefed up internal power supply (allows for headphones with impedances as low as 9 ohms to be used)
  • improved menu structure (similar to DCR822 & DSQD)
  • decreased overall RF noise floor and less RF gain in the front end (reduces overload from strong interference sources and out-of-band signals)
  • increased IP3 and 1dB RF compression points (improves handling of high signal levels)
  • black anodized finish for lower visual profile
  • D² and HDM compatibility modes added
